The curriculum we offer is flexible in its design, so that a personalised skills-based and academic programme can be developed for each learner. This personalised curriculum provides both choice and challenge, with its primary foci being on developing emotional literacy, effective life-skills and basic core subject knowledge, whilst giving the learner opportunities to attain appropriate accredited outcomes based upon each learner’s unique ability profile.
Priority is given towards key core subjects that offer a solid foundation for each learner, namely: English, Mathematics, Science and ICT (computing skills). Additionally, there will be a range of provisions for all learners that enable them to undertake creative learning and vocational opportunities.
Throughout the whole of the offered curriculum programme, there will be an underpinning of core ethical and moral values: British values; Spiritual development; Moral development; Social development; Cultural development.
The aim of SEE’s curriculum is to offer learners, including those who have a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) issues, a suitable and balanced academic, creative and vocational curriculum that meets each learner’s needs and abilities.
Our Vocational Curriculum
In addition to the academic curriculum, a vocational curriculum is offered to all learners that enables them to undertake creative learning and vocational opportunities.
A range of vocational courses are offered that are practical in nature and relate to a specific employment or career area. The learner is given their choice as to which creative/vocational course they wish to undertake. Often this choice will be selected based upon the learner’s interest, ability and aptitude and with guidance from SEE staff.
The vocational subjects offered can include (although this list is not exhaustive):
- Introduction to Construction
- Hair and Beauty
- Health and Social Care
- Sports Leaders
- Bike Maintenance
- Animal Care
- BTEC Animal Management
- Public Services
